Into what general category of EOS does the instrument fall?

Multispectral and Panchromatic

Question 2

What capture technology is used?

Opto-mechanical Scanner

Question 3

Is the sensor active or passive?

Passive

Question 4

At what wavelength(s) does the sensor function?

Panchromatic 0.45-0.90µm

Blue 0.45-0.52µm

Green 0.52-0.60µm

Red 0.63-0.69µm

Near infra-red 0.70-0.90µm

Question 5

What resolution does the sensor have – temporal and spatial?

Temporal

24-hour repeat cycle

Spatial

2 meters for panchromatic and 8 meters for colour and NIR bands

Question 6

Is the sensor carried on an airborne or spaceborne platform? What is that platform – typically?

The sensor is space borne - carried on FORMOSAT-2

Question 7

Who developed/launched/manages the sensor?

Formosat 2 first remote sensing satellite developed by National Space Organization (NSPO). It was launched in 2004 between the NSPO and private companies. It is managed by the NSPO and companies in Taiwan. The sensor is used by companies in Taiwan to monitor activity in Taiwan to improve the infrastructure.

Question 8

Can data be purchased from service providers?

Yes from Spot Image France

Question 9

What products are available?

Panchromatic and Multi Spectral images

Question 10

At which main application areas is the sensor aimed?

The main application of the senor is to monitor Taiwan. But it also monitors the whole world.

List 2 specific projects, where they have been reported, their goals and their outcomes.
