List 2 specific projects, where they have been reported, their goals and their outcomes.

In 1999 global forest watch used the MSU-E scanner to map Russia’s forests a total area of 11 million square kms. The goals of this project were to preserve the forests and attempt to protect them from industrial expansion. The investigation revealed that only about one quarter of the forest area of Russia remains intact.

Several Russian agencies are involved in the Development of an integrated informational system on the state of the World Ocean (ISWO), including Rushydromet, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Committee for Fisheries and the Defense Ministry. The MSU-E scanner is one of the instruments used to provide information on pollution monitoring and sea temperatures in the black sea.
